About The Photographer…

After over eighteen years competing in CLRG’s New England Region, Mary Slowey (Slowey Photography) brings a rare insider’s perspective to photographing Irish dancers.

Through a customized and documentary style approach, Mary photographs dancers’ future nostalgic moments by capturing the full Irish dance experience, from training to stepping off the stage, while celebrating dancers’ identities as athletes and artists.

Slowey Photography sessions are more than just photos, they’re a celebration of a dancer and everything that makes their experience unique; while Mary’s experience on both sides of the spotlight allows her to not just photograph technique but to use photography as a narrative medium to tell a dancer’s story.

Through the photographer led process, the “off the stage” parts of Irish dance that are personally special to you are recreated for candid capture – whether it’s those inward moments before you hit the stage or exploring the area at a new major location with your crew.

HOME OF THE SENIOR ATHLETE TEAM: In 2024, Mary created the Slowey Photography Senior Athlete Team, the first program to be a space for dancers in their senior year to be celebrated the way that fellow athletes in “high school” sports are; with senior nights, media days, and spirit weeks. The team experience commemorates the group of dancers in their senior year through photo sessions and team engagement.
